On 4 December, the traditional festival honouring the patron saint of miners once again provided an opportunity for the four scientific committees – AFTES, CFMS, CFMR – French Committee for Rock Mechanics and CFGI Geology to jointly organise an afternoon of knowledge-sharing, featuring a series of fascinating presentations on the theme of remarkable structures and evolving practices in the world of underground works.
Alain Guilloux represented Terrasol with a presentation given alongside Jean-Louis Durville on the Tinée diversion tunnel, which was the subject of an article in the *Revue Française de Géotechnique* (No. 182).
On a similar note, we would like to take this opportunity to announce the forthcoming publication of a book by François Laigle (Terrasol expert), co-authored with François Martin, on the design and construction of underground civil engineering structures. It will be published by PUL / Presses des Ponts very soon, on 20 December. The book features a foreword by Mark S. Diederichs and, of course, Alain Guilloux.
