Geotechnical project management services
The Seine-Nord Europe Canal (CSNE), a major land-use development project led by the Société du Canal Seine Nord Europe, will link Compiègne to Aubencheul-Au-Bac by 2030. This large-scale canal (107 km long and 54 m wide) is a vital link in the Seine-Scheldt waterway, which will connect the French network to 20,000 km of European waterways.
The canal will be equipped with 6 major locks (head of up to 25 m), three large canal bridges (up to 1.3 km long), 62 road and rail bridges (spans up to 100 m), and numerous large embankments and cuttings (up to 40 m high).
terrasol is part of the multidisciplinary Project Management Assistance (PMA) team, comprising several subsidiaries of the setec group, which has been supporting the Client since 2012 throughout the design and construction phases.
Acting as the geotechnical expert within the AMO team, terrasol contributes its expertise to the geotechnical design of civil engineering structures (locks, bridges, viaducts and retaining structures) as well as earthworks (dams, embankments and cuttings), alongside setec international, setec tpi and setec hydratec.
Terrasol carries out several tasks: defining the programme for preliminary geotechnical surveys, analysing tenders from project managers and contractors, reviewing the preliminary design (APD), detailed design (PRO) and tender documents, and participation in specific studies and expert assessments (behaviour of binder-treated silts and lime-treated chalk, optimisation of several major structures, silt collapse, etc.).
